Today Riv and I went with Foster and his class to the pumpkin patch! We love making the short drive every year to pick out a pumpkin, try and find our way through the corn-maze and dive into the corn pit.
Even though that’s apparently “off limits”
For some reason, it’s so hard for us to find a time when Bryson is off shift, we have Lo and no one has school to be able to make the trip together. Seriously, every year it’s a scramble to get us all to the pumpkin patch. I’m hoping we can go next weekend as a family.
Foster was really into it this year, he loved every bit of it. When we were waiting for everyone to get there to go in he kept inching closer and closer to the entrance. He loved picking out his perfect little pumpkin and when it was time to go to the corn maze and train he did NOT want to put his pumpkin in the pile with the others to leave it and pick it up later. That is, until he saw we were heading to the train then he ditched his pumpkin quick.
River really loved it this year too, we only had one mishap where he tried to walk in between the stalks of corn (which I didn’t think was a big deal) and he fell in a sticker bush and had little sticky pricklies all over him. He didn’t cry and just stood there while I pulled them out then was on his way, running to catch up to all of the kids. He would’ve stayed in the corn pit all day if another class didn’t need to take their turn. He would also point to the train and kept saying, “Ride!” He did not want to be left out!
I have to admit, I was a little apprehensive about coming to the pumpkin patch this year with his three year old class. I was getting panic stricken flash backs of coming with Lo’s three/four year old class almost three years ago to the date.
We left in tears.
As in, we all left in tears.
I always say that’s a pretty good analogy for the terrible threes. But, it went surprisingly well.
Maybe it’s because Foster is easier than Lo.
Maybe it’s because River is a year older than Foster was when we went with Lo’s class.
Or maybe I’m just much more chill than I used to be (aka ran out of sh*ts to give).
Whatever it is, we all had a really great day. After the pumpkin patch the boys and I went on a lunch date and now they are snoozing away while I showered off all the allergies and am putting up this blog. I’d like to say I’m going to have time to squeeze a little nap in before they wake up but I don’t want to get my hopes up. 😉
